I think out of almost any candy in the world, this one will give
you the most fibre of them all. Why, you might ask? Well, the
little buttons are notorious for not separating from the paper,
so you always end up with a bit of paper on the back. We can get
a man on the moon but we will never ever be able to separate paper
and candy, but you know what? I don't mind at all.
The first thing I noticed when I ate a red candy was the real
lack of flavour, so I tried a yellow one just to see if I could
maybe get something to weigh against it. Still nothing. Pretty
much these things are coloured sugar dots. A little flavour might
make them more interesting, but I don't know if that goes against
the tradition. Maybe you could try making a special batch and
see how it goes. It's really hard to hate a candy that has stuck
with a simple and strange idea for so many years. Sure, it may
not rank high in taste, but novelty is sometimes my favorite category.
