Why can't they make 'real' looking gummies?

Recently I received an e-mail from Linda asking the following question, "I am looking for a gummy worm or grub that comes in shades of brown, I want it to look real." This brought up an interesting idea, why don't they make gummies that look more like the real thing. I'm not saying that it would be everybody's cup of tea but as a kid I use to freak people out by trying to fake people out with my gummy worms. I use to pretend that I was pulling the worm out of the ground, then as quickly as possible, I would pop it in my mouth. Well I still do it, and the problem that comes up is if the intended victim of my joke sees the gummy worm. Most of them are bright colours so the minute you catch a glance, it's obvious that it's not real.

Now I know that there are people out there saying it's not right. Parents might think it's real and freak out. This isn't like the water gun issue people. No one is going to get shot because they thought someone is eating real worms. It's candy and if you can make it 'shockingly sour' why not make it 'shockingly real'. There are so many other things you could make out of gummy that could look real and you know what, people would buy it. So all of you candy making people it's about time you filled this niche, people want it, I want it. Now I can't buy enough to make it worth your while but if you make them and sell them I'll feature it in a review, and publicly thank you.

Actually now that I think about it, gummies aren't the only thing that might work. I once saw a company that made a diaper with a nugget of chocolate in the bottom. Chocolate jelly beans are like sheep... Well I guess that's a coincidence. So let's not just focus on gummies, let's make this an all candy idea. If anybody has cool ideas for making gross realistic candy treats, make them - kids will go nuts.
