Nerds "Grape/Strawberry"

I've always wanted to know who came up with these things. Then the answer came to me in the bottom of another Wonka treat, I think it was some kind of hard shinny candy. I ate the box and sitting at the bottom was something that looked like a Nerd. This leads me to believe that Nerds are the residue or mistake of another candy. Well if this is true, happy accident triumphs again. This is a classic from the 80's and you know what it still hold up today. With a slight sour flavor and since you get two flavors per box, you really can't go wrong at all. This is also a candy that for some reason you really don't see copied too much either, so it hold it's own in the originality category. Nerds more than just a name.
