Not for Sale

I don't make or sell any candy on this site, nor do I think I ever will. Now don't hold me to this, someday everything might change and I might decide to open a candy store. Or if I learn how to make some interesting chocolate treats I might market them, but for now I don't plan to. Whenever I tell people about the site many do ask, "Why don't I sell candy?" I really have two reasons right now.

The first and most boring reason has to be the conflict of interest. Selling candy is like advertising and advertising candy company's would look a little off on a site that's supposed to be all about telling the truth about candy. Hey if I don't like something, I don't want a bunch of people complaining and threatening to take money away from me. It sounds harsh but I'm sure it would happen and even if I didn't give a bad review, I think I'd be affraid of being influenced by a company that decides to be extra generous to me.

The other reason is similar but a little different, it's all about standards. I'd be really picky about what I sell on the site as far as standards go. I'd only want to sell things that I felt were in the best interest of the people visiting the site. For you this might be great, you would know that whatever I sold on my site would be the best of the best, but from a marketing and making money standpoint it would be a nightmare. I would constantly be going over what's more important making a buck or making sure only my picks were for sale.

I guess both of these ideas are very similar and it really explains why I don't sell candy on the site. I am up for selling other things and as your reading this I might already be doing just that, but I can't really figure out if or how I could sell candy.
